August 8, 2012 is Wednesday, but we are going to kick things in gear starting today. That's right, we have a year and week to shed some pounds. I want to be looking like a punk rock goddess in that dress so I got's to be getting my fitness on! I know it's kinda "domesticated" but I make weekly menus for us so we can plan out our meals, and well now that I am a kept woman I can do these kinds of things with no shame!
I will be posting all my meals this week. My menu is the same weekly, but it's vague enough that I can keep things interesting. Keeping a meal diary is PROVEN to be a successful tool in weight loss. I write out my menu first, then I use the application My Fitness Pal to keep track of the calorie content. It is a great ap! I love it.. and you always have it with you when you have your phone! Great for looking up last minute changes, like in when you stop for lunch unexpectedly. I lost 25 pounds last year using this tool and running, and if you don't have a smart phone, you can still log in using a computer. You can even plan out the calories for the day and print a guide. I have since gained some of that back, so my first goal is to get back down to where I was. If you would like to join me on My Fitness Pal... my screen name is PunkPalate.
I've started my day of with my usual Monday trip to Aldi. If you are lucky enough to have an Aldi, you know how wonderful it is. I am an avid couponer, and Aldi doesn't except them, but they carry mostly there own store brands anyway. There produce prices are so much lower than any other store I shop at.

Greatest invention ever? Almond milk! Blue Diamond Almond Breeze Unsweetened has only 40 calories per cup! Compared to skim milk which can be anywhere from 80 and up a cup, and I love the thick consistency it has, its like whole milk! Only con's... it's doesn't work in all recipes... I tried to make sugar free pudding with it and it didn't set.
There are tons of great veggie burgers out there, but I recently got hooked on veggie patch ultimate meatles burger. It tastes like a REAL hamburger, and 110 calories. My store has them frozen, but I ussually find them the produce section, usually with other veggie alternatives ( we also love there spinach and broccoli bites...yum!) Morning Star and Bocca also have great burger substitutes...but sorry veggie patch reigns supreme. Now please make veggie bacon that I am fooled by!
